about this topic.

The term dolphin and porpoise are often used interchangeably, but there are some differences. The most obvious differences between them are the shapes of their heads and the teeth.

In general, dolphins have a rostrum (beak) and porpoises have a more rounded melon without a distinct beak. Dolphins also have conical-shaped teeth while porpoises have flat, spade-like teeth.
